That Thing You Do (Extended Cut) (1996)

Decided to watch the extended version since I hadn't seen it before. I've seen the theatrical cut multiple times before.

Since I've seen it before I'll just focus on the extra footage, of which there is a bunch.

There is more background story to Tina, Guy's girlfriend, played by Charlize Theron. It just shows her having an affair, basically. There are more scenes as the Oneders gain popularity with the majority of it being in their first music hall. It showed them being nervous to play a 'big' venue. There was more character development overall.

The thing is, it actually kinda slowed down the film fairly significantly. I actually prefer the theatrical cut as it is tighter and flows better, IMHO.

Was it worth seeing? Yes, if you've seen it before and are curious about the extra footage. If you've seen it before, you'll see a bit more stuff that isn't as refined for the screen. If you haven't seen it, stick with the theatrical.

It's still a great film either way.
