For Your Eyes Only (1981)

The lastest in my marathon and another one starring Roger Moore. This one kinda overcorrected from Moonraker in that it was a bit too serious.

The story is about the bad guys who want to get their hands on an A.T.A.C. system which is a device that controls all nuclear attack codes in United States submarines. James Bond must figure out who is attempting to sell this tech and stop then before the codes get into the right hands.

There was a weird choice at the beginning of this film. Blofeld is briefly in it but is pretty much erased from the past. It seemed like they wanted to forget everything that has happened prior which is weird considering how popular his character is.

I mentioned the overcorrect on this one. It Follows a traditional Bond pattern but it was taking itself far more seriously than usual. After the silly ending to Moonraker, they needed to do something to fix it. It just seems like some of Moore's charm was cut way back.

The Bond girl in this one was also just present. She was beautiful but there was no real point to her except for her crossbow skills. Yes, she wanted revenge but we've seen that before.

Overall it still has enough good moments to keep it traditional. I would love a drinking game that you have to take a shot every time Bond sleeps with a lady and she dies in the next scene. Or take a shot if there are sharks as a part of the story.

I'll recommend this one but there are easily better ones in the franchise.
