The story, what there is of it, is about a toy store getting prepared to open the doors for their Black Friday sale. Little to they know that a supposed meteor shower has infected some people making them a mix between aliens, zombies, and Deadites. The employees must survive this and another growing threat.
The thing that made this just a meh film is that it felt incredibly rushed. The story didn't mesh in any kind of meaningful way. They could have easily pulled a Night of the Living Dead and compared zombies to capitalism, but they didn't try hard enough to make the point. They could have given us character growth so that we cared about even one of them but, nope, when characters die it didn't matter. They could have made it a straight up comedy or survival film but, nope, they couldn't decide.
The one thing going for it, outside of Bruce Campbell (not the character, just Bruce), was that it was a more unique way of introducing the creatures. That and what happens later. Sadly, it's not enough to save the film.
Overall it had a few funny lines and some solid practical FX and makeup, but outside of that it just doesn't hold up. This is a one-and-done for me.
I'll recommend this only to the most die hard Campbell fans and only for the sake of the fact that he's in it.
