Leprechaun Origins (2014)

Hmmm... I did it. I watched this one. I took the bullet so you don't have to.

Story = four young twenty somethings are touring around Ireland and get talked into visiting a historic site. They get served up as a sacrifice to balance the scales from the older generation who stole gold from a cave.

Really, it's pointless. This movie could have been called Chupacabra and had the same impact. The idea of the Leprechaun is just thrown out the door and now it's just some random Halloween costume monster who terrorizes the area. As a generic monster story, it's not horrible but just replace the word Leprechaun with whatever monster you want and you get this easily forgettable film.

Honestly, the creature, let's just call it a Leprechaun for the sake of the film title, looked like one of those cheap foam monsters you get at the Spirit Halloween store. That and the Director of Photography knew it so never focused the lens on it or ever showed it in a full body shot. There's mystery about a monster and there is a clear misdirection on using latex masks as 'scary'.

I will at least give some credit to the lead actress as she did decent with what she had (which was practically nothing). I find it pretty funny that her future films are mostly those cheesy Hallmark holiday movies.

I won't even recommend this one for those for who want to be completionists like me. It's a 100% waste of time and in no way represents the Leprechaun franchise. That's what you get when the WWE produces your film!
