Warwick Davis is his usual fun. It's funny to think of how many iconic characters he's played over the years. Makes you wonder how he got saddled with this franchise. I guess it is a paycheck and he makes a lot more than I do! :)
This one at least tried to have a story. It focuses on three wannabe rappers who are eyeballing a contest in Las Vegas to get them a recording contract. Ice-T plays a gangsta who found the Leprechaun years ago and managed to steal a magical flute (as well as his gold) while capturing him in the meantime. The flute gives the power of musical hypnotism. Now the three wannabe rappers have to survive Ice-T and the Leprechaun.
Apparently the Leprechaun doesn't care about his gold as much as he does about his flute. I don't even think he mentions the gold in this one. In a previous film the Leprechaun had a vulnerability to cast iron but in this one it is thrown out the window (even though he is captured the same way).
This movie has so many cliche racial stereotypes it's horrid. I chalk it up to the writers deciding to try to make things 'relevant' but it is clear a white writer wrote what he thought would be cool. We even get a Leprechaun rap at the end.
All this being said, it ranks higher on the list as it at least tried to have some semblance of a story. I'll recommend it like the other ones. If you like cheese, you'll have fun. If you don't, you won't.
