The story on this one = a woman finds the chest of gold and takes it to share with her friends. The Leprechaun wants it back. Killings ensue. Does it get much deeper than this? Nope.
Where the film before this at least tried to make a story, this one just figured they didn't need one. Thing is, the Leprechaun doesn't have more than five minutes of screen time in the first hour of the movie and it's only a hour and twenty-four minutes long! Yes, really. He's barely in the film which is about a Leprechaun, for crying out loud!
They also threw out the reason to watch these films, the (lucky) charm of the Leprechaun. He didn't rhyme in this one. His killings were uninspired, to say the least. And, while he usually doesn't kill all of the people in his way, he didn't seem to make much of an effort in this one.
Maybe this is why David ended with this one. The franchise was hanging on by a thread and the lack of effort in story and in keeping the Leprechaun relevant just didn't seem like a priority.
I'll only recommend this one for the hardcore fans as, by this point, they are really scraping the bottom of the barrel.
