This one focuses on Andy, now about eight years older (approximately) than the previous two films. His mother is still in the psych ward and Andy has been moved from foster home to foster home, finally landing in a military preparatory academy. Well, as you can expect, Chucky is back again and after Andy once more.
One of the things about this one is that the rules changed a little bit. In the first two, Chucky had to take Andy's soul as he was the first one that Chucky revealed himself to. In this one, it seems like he can take over the soul of any willing child so he no longer cares about Andy. It was just a weird sidestep as it was one of the original weaknesses of Chucky. Now he can just go to a school, orphanage, or even a McDonald's playground to take over a child's soul.
This one was a lot slower paced than the other two. It just felt like there were long passages between seeing Chucky and other things going on. I felt the pacing on it was slower than it needed to be because by the time we got to a kill, I wasn't as interested. One fun thing, however, is that Chucky is starting to come into his own with the one-liners and there were some fun ones in here (i.e. "Don't f*** with Chuck.")
Overall it was still fun but less so than the previous two. I'll still recommend it though because there is still some excellent visual effect work and it's fun to see how Chucky gets damaged over the course of the film.
