Watcher (2022)

Decided to check this one out since a few of my movie friends recommended it. It is a Shudder original with about ten different studios putting up the money for it.

It was interesting. It's a horror film but not anything traditional. In their recommendation, one of them stated that it was kinda like a mix between Lost in Translation and Rear Window which is a good way to look at it.

The story is about a couple who move to Romania (in the city) as the guy as a career that requires him to be on site. His mother is Romanian so he speaks it but his wife doesn't. She is left alone during the day and starts suspecting someone across the street is watching her and following her. She continually tries to catch him doing so and starts to come across as a bit crazy.

The story unfolded slowly. It was not a fast-paced horror film but any means. It did have a 'different' payoff, which is good, but there were parts that dragged.

That being said, I enjoyed it. It's more psychological than anything. There is a sense of dread that comes across.

Yes, I'll recommend this one. It's not a critical one to see but it is worth the time.
