Resident Evil: Extinction (2007)

The third live-action Resident Evil film in my marathon. Once again starring the one and only Milla Jovovich who is joined by Ali Larter this time around.

The story continues from Apocalypse but things are looking even grimmer for humanity. The virus has wiped out most of humanity but, for some (idiotic) reason, it has also wiped out most plant life on the planet as well. This one follows Alice as she goes cross country because, I guess she has to? It also reunites us with two of the characters from Apocalypse who are now traveling in a caravan of humans, trying to survive. There is a whole thing with Umbrella doing cloning experiments on Alice but it's mostly just a side story.

This one is still a fun cheese / popcorn film. There isn't much depth or substance but it is fun seeing what they come up with. I'm still confused as to why Dobermans are the only dogs who can get infected (apparently). There was a great scene with crows in this one but it ends with an eye roll moment. The other thing is, these 'survivors' who are in the caravan are dumb as bricks. I did like that they had some of the film in the nature reclaimed Las Vegas. They did it better than the crappy Army of the Dead on Netflix.

Overall this was just another average film in the franchise. It's fun watching them back to back. The other good thing is that they are all about 1 1/2 hours each so there isn't a need to fill the extra half an hour with useless story. HA!

Oh, side note, Stranger Things totally copied a scenario between Jovovich/bad guy and Eleven/Vecna!

Again, I'll recommend this, like the others, for a fun, brainless romp. It's the same old, same old but, honestly, are you expecting much more from the series of films?
