Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers (2022)

Today's second movie of the day = Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers. This one came out on Friday on Disney+. It stars the voices of Andy Samberg and John Mulaney.

This was a fun one. We watched it as a family. Being a fan of the show back in the early 90s, as a part of the Disney afternoon, it was fun to see these two on screen again. It wasn't a traditional reboot, however.

I can see how the popularity of Detective Pikachu opened the door for Rescue Rangers to be redone. There is just something to be said about animated characters interacting with the 'real' world and humans. Much like Roger Rabbit, there are a mix of animated characters (of all types) and humans.

The story plays out kinda like an old episode of Rescue Rangers as Chip n Dale need to find Monterey Jack who has gotten himself into some trouble. Along the way they interact with a wide range of characters, both human and animated.

One of the funny things is that they have so much background swag of different characters from so many other shows! There are references from everything from Rick and Morty, to Ren and Stimpy, to Beavis and Butthead, to Wreck-It Ralph, and so much more! That just barely scrapes the surface. It'll be one to go through again at a later date to catch all of the references. They didn't slap you in the face with it which makes it far more fun to find these Easter eggs.

Overall it was a fun film. I enjoyed it. They did a good job making it feel like both an old episode but brought a lot more to the table. It was also a little heartwarming by the end.

Yes, I'll recommend it, especially if you've ever watched the old series. Rook liked it and he's only ever seen a couple of episodes when I introduced him to Tale Spin, Darkwing Duck, Gummi Bears, and of course, Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers!
