Quick Change (1990)

Today's movie of the day = Quick Change. This one starred Bill Murray, Geena Davis, Randy Quaid, and Jason Robards. I had not seen it before but @mlanza1974 praised it so I went in blind.

It was entertaining. It fit the 80s and early 90s mold of hijinks. There was a bit of a formula back then to where the characters would get into one scrape after another. Think A Fish Called Wanda, Adventures in Babysitting, or Weekend at Bernie's. In each the stakes just keep getting higher until there is a payoff.

I liked it but didn't get as many laughs out of it as I expected. Bill Murray was basically Venkman from Ghostbusters. Randy Quaid was Cousin Eddie from Christmas Vacation. They were basically the same as in those roles. Geena Davis and Jason Robards were pretty much just supporting characters. There is also a young Tony Shaloub and Stanley Tucci.

The best parts of the film were with Bill Murray as a clown robbing a bank. He gets the best lines during this time. The rest of the film is just the escape.

I can recommend this as an 80s film (even though it was released in 1990). It has the same feel as the aforementioned films in the build up and craziness to get to the finale. It's a little harder to recommend as a 2020s film, however. Take that for what it is.
