Prospect (2018)

Today's movie of the day = Prospect. This one starred The Mandalorian. :) I bought this one on a whim a couple of months ago as the concept seemed interesting to me.

This was basically kinda like Firefly in the idea that is a space western. If you took the general story and put it in the old west it would fit right in. That's not a bad thing, in this context, as it made for an interesting story.

It's basically about a father and daughter who are prospectors on an alien planet. They are looking for gemstones which require a very specific order of steps to be done to extract them. As you may expect from a western, they run into trouble.

In a way this kinda reminded me of a mix between Firefly and True Grit. The beginning of the story was a little slow but it picked up the pace later on. The only thing is that the very ending was a little weird with a particular character.

One thing I found funny was that no one in the movie could hold on to their guns. It seems like everyone was playing a slap game and knocking guns out of someone else's hands. It was almost amusing without meaning to be.

The lead girl and Pedro Paschal did a good job and worked well together.

Overall I enjoyed it. While it might have been better as a western, it was still entertaining and had some things going for it.

Yes, I will recommend this one.
