Ingrid Goes West (2017)

Today's second movie of the day = Ingrid Goes West. I bought it mostly because Aubrey Plaza was in it and I'm a fan of hers. They label this one under Comedy on iTunes but it's almost more of a drama/thriller.

The basic story is that Ingrid, played by Plaza, is obsessed with social media (Instagram). She basically finds someone on social media and stalks them thinking it is true friendship.

She then runs into the Scarlet Witch and the new Captain America, oh, wait, we aren't in the MCU, and befriends Wanda. She is very much a stalker in this aspect.

The big thing is that it shows some of the major problems with social media in what we post and how much we crave likes. She is so obsessed that she finds a person she thought was cool and liked one of her posts. From there it just increases in intensity.

The other message is that we put forth our best faces when we post in social media and she can't get past this 'ideal' version of others.

The film had some interesting ideas on this and it does show some major problems that people have with it.

I will recommend this but more as a social commentary than a drama/thriller.

P.S. I do believe the end kinda sends a bad message.
