We enjoyed it. It was a slow burn, for sure, but it was a nice tribute film. There was a lot of heart in it.
I have been wondering if McKenna Grace has a good chiropractor, however, as she carried this film! She was pretty amazing in the role which is good because she's really the only memorable character. All of the rest are basically 'luggage'. I think they got Finn Wolfhard because he's in Stranger Things and they thought he'd boost the appeal of the film.
I do have some general complaints, however. First, they relied on the first film and it's story a bit too much. It would have been nice to see something more original. Second, the kids become pros on everything in two seconds was a bit too 'easy'. The last was the pacing of the first half of the film as it really took awhile to get going.
That complaints are cursory, however, as the overall film did a good job on its own. It was a nice way to introduce a new generation to the film franchise. If it hadn't been for McKenna Grace I don't think this film would have worked nearly as well.
There are two after-credit scenes as well.
Yes, I'll recommend this one. It has made it's way to much second favorite Ghostbusters franchise film.
