Anna and the Apocalypse (2017)

Today's movie of the day = Anna and the Apocalypse. Another of those movies where I can't believe I haven't watched it sooner! The concept is that it is a zombie musical set during Christmastime. Much like Buffy the Vampire Slayer it sounds ludicrous but it works so well!

First up, they got a great cast for this. Everyone held their own and did a great job. Anna, of course, was the key player and she did fantastic. Her entourage were each great as well and had their moments in the spotlight. The weakest character was the principal not because of the actor but because of the role in the film.

The music is great as well. The tunes are catchy and have great lyrics to match the tone of the film. These are ones I'll listen to again and again. Heck, I'll be watching this movie again and again in the Christmas season! If you're ever slightly curious to hear, without any big spoilers, check YouTube for Turning My Life Around as the song happens early in the film.

The other thing is that it seems weird but you do get emotionally vested in the characters so you want to see them survive. They aren't throwaway characters which come and go.

If you couldn't tell, yes, I'll certainly recommend this one!
