Ip Man 3 (2015)

Going through my Ip Man marathon and moved on to the third film in the franchise. Watch Donnie Yen perform Wing Chun is just mesmerizing. He moves with such grace that watching the fights it feels like artwork.

This one also seemed like two movies in one. The first was about a gang in Hong Kong who wanted to take over a school building to make it into condominiums so Ip Man needed to protect it and vanquish the big bad played by an actor I won't reveal here. The second part was more about the same idea of a rival challenging Ip Man for the title of Grandmaster.

This was a fun one, again, but not quite as fun as the first two. There are a couple of great fight sequences in it but it wasn't as interesting. In previous films, Ip Man had used his logic, compassion, and focus on Chinese culture to make it seem like he was being magnanimous. In this one, the bad guys weren't as well thought it. It was still entertaining and I still enjoyed it but it just didn't hold the same oomph as the other two.

I'll still recommend it without hesitation, however.
